Father David Peters - Diamond Jubilee

Friday 13th July at Holy Family and Saturday, 14th July 2018 at St. Joseph's

Father David celebrates 60 years of Ordination to the Priesthood on Friday 13 July at Holy Family. Mass will be celebrated at 7.00pm followed by a reception in Holy Family school hall. Next week envelopes will be available at the back of Holy Family and St. Joseph’s churches for any donations towards a Jubilee gift to Father Peters. On Saturday 14th July at 12 noon there will be a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Joseph’s followed by a reception in the Parish Centre to which all are warmly invited. If anyone is able to help in any way with his celebrations, please contact Veronica Saunders on 973 3773.

 

St. Joseph's PTA Summer Fair

12.00 p.m., Sunday, 1st July 2018

St. Joseph's PTA Summer Fair will take place on Sunday 1st July after 11 a.m. Mass, from 12 until 2pm, in the school hall and playground. With the sun bound to shine on us, we will be enjoying “All the Fun of the Fair” with tombolas, cake stall, hot and cold food and drinks, bouncy castle, face painting, and lots of games. All parishioners of St Joseph’s and Holy Family are very welcome.

 

Carmelite Monastery Centenary

16th July 2018

Holy Mass will be celebrated on the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on 16th July at 7.00pm. to celebrate 100 years Foundation in Birkenhead. All are warmly invited. Poster in the narthex.

 

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes

26th/27th July to 2nd/3rd August 2018

This year marks the 160th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to Bernadette in Lourdes. The Diocesan Pilgrimage will take place from 26 July-3 August overland and 27 July-2 August by air. Brochures and booking forms can be downloaded from the Pilgrimage Website www.shrewsburypilgrimage.co.uk or from the Pilgrimage Office: St Alban's, 30 Mill Lane, Wallasey, CH44 5UD. This year flight seats are limited so early booking is recommended.

 

National Eucharistic Congress

Liverpool, 7th-9th September 2018

Adoremus: Places are still available for one, two or three day participation in the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress being held on 7-9 September 2018 in Liverpool. To book tickets please fill out the booking forms (part of the leaflet ‘Is this for me?’ available at the back of church) and send to Helen Jones at the Curial Offices. Payments should be made by delegates to St. Joseph’s. (Please speak to Father Woolley about available subsidies). Bookings should be made as soon as possible.

 

Theatre Club

Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre

Parish Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

23rd-30th September 2019

Father Woolley has now finalised the dates for the 2019 pilgrimage to the Holy Land. These are 23rd-30th September. Cost £1470. Deposits of £400 required by 23rd November. Booking forms available. Father Paul Maddison, Catholic priest and director of Pilgrimage People, will give a presentation on Wednesday 13th June at 7.00 pm in the Parish Centre. All interested are very welcome.

 

Catholic Women's League

The CWL promotes and supports religious and intellectual interests and social work; ensures the presentation of Catholic interests on public bodies; for the formation and collective expression of Catholic public opinion including support of work at an international level through the World Union of Catholic Women's Organisations. Meetings are held on the Third Monday of the month at Westleigh, behind St Vincent's, Altrincham.

 

Ring and Ride

Ring and Ride provides a door-to-door accessible minibus service for people of all ages who find it difficult to use ordinry public transport. Some parishioners make use of this service to attend the 11.00 a.m. Mass on Sundays but, in order to secure a regular service, need a couple more to join with them. If you need assistance, phone 0161 200 6011.

 

Union of Catholic Mothers

Meetings take place on Tueday afternoons 1.00 p.m. - 2.30 p.m. at Holy Family Parish Church. If anyone would like to join us, you would be made very welcome. Contact Joan Ryan, President on 282 6378.

St Joseph's and Holy Family

Parent and Toddler Group

This popular Group meets each Monday morning from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. during term time, in the Holy Family Parish Centre. The Group has been in existence for many years and is organised by a team of parishioners who give their time on a voluntary basis.  If you feel you would like to become involved in the work of the Group, then further details can be obtained from Father Woolley on 973 1615 or Jane Simister on 969 9193, or call in on a Monday and see for yourself.

The usual CRB formalities will be applicable.

 

North West Thirtysomethings

Are you in your 30's? Would you like to meet other Catholics your age? We are a group who share the same faith and interests. Recent events have included art galleries, meals, theatre, city tours.
