Scouts Coffee Evening

8.15 p.m. Wednesday, 18th April 2018

On Wednesday 18th April at 8.15pm 11th Sale (St Joseph's) Scouts will be holding a coffee and cakes evening in their HQ on Springfield Road. The Scouts will be raising money for their project on homeless people and a special print in remembrance of Arthur Gavaghan ('Gav') will be formally unveiled. All are welcome to come along to support and remember Gav.

Faith, Fun and Friendship

St George's Day Afternoon Tea

2-3.30 p.m., Monday, 23rd April 2018

St Joseph's School PTA will be holding an afternoon tea to celebrate St George's Day. The event will be held in St Joseph's Parish Centre from 2.00 pm until 3.30pm. Tea, coffee, strawberries and cream, cakes and scones will be available and, weather permitting, some of the schoolchildren will be dancing round the maypole in the school playground. All parishioners are very welcome to come along.

 

Visit to Houses of Parliament

Wednesday, 2nd May 2018

 Further to the meeting held recently it has been decided that people should make their own way to London, meeting outside Parliament at 9.30am. Those wishing to go may prefer to go down the night before, ensuring we arrive in time for Prime Minister’s Questions. Father Woolley suggests St. Giles hotel, Tottenham Court Road. Sandstone Trail

Sunday, 6th May 2018

On Sunday 6th May, some of the regulars from St Joseph’s and Holy Family Walkers will be undertaking the Sandstone Trail (32 mile walk) in aid of Shelter (National Charity for people struggling with bad housing and homelessness ) and North West Forget-me-nots and Rainbows (small local charity supporting families who have lost a baby). The Players Sale

7.30 p.m., 11th and 12th May 2018

The Players Sale present a new play written by W.A. Ashbrook telling how The Great War changed peoples’ lives, told in sketch and popular songs from the time. Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes

26th/27th July to 2nd/3rd August 2018

This year marks the 160th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to Bernadette in Lourdes. The Diocesan Pilgrimage will take place from 26 July-3 August overland and 27 July-2 August by air. Brochures and booking forms can be downloaded from the Pilgrimage Website www.shrewsburypilgrimage.co.uk or from the Pilgrimage Office: St Alban's, 30 Mill Lane, Wallasey, CH44 5UD. This year flight seats are limited so early booking is recommended.

 

The Eucharistic Congress

Liverpool, 7th-9th September 2018

The Eucharistic Congress is taking place in Liverpool on 7th-9th September 2018. This invite has been sent out to all parishes by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales. The Diocese of Shrewsbury has been allotted a large number of tickets due to our proximity to Liverpool and these have been allocated to all parishes across the diocese. It would be wonderful if our diocese of Shrewsbury was well represented. Cost details are £40 per person for attendance for a session taking place on Friday 7th September (intended for those involved in catechesis and formation) or for Saturday 8th September (ie £40 per day). This cost also included “privileged places” to one of 2 solemn Masses at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King in Liverpool on Sunday 9th September. Catholic Women's League

The CWL promotes and supports religious and intellectual interests and social work; ensures the presentation of Catholic interests on public bodies; for the formation and collective expression of Catholic public opinion including support of work at an international level through the World Union of Catholic Women's Organisations. Meetings are held on the Third Monday of the month at Westleigh, behind St Vincent's, Altrincham.

 

Ring and Ride

Ring and Ride provides a door-to-door accessible minibus service for people of all ages who find it difficult to use ordinry public transport. Some parishioners make use of this service to attend the 11.00 a.m. Mass on Sundays but, in order to secure a regular service, need a couple more to join with them. Union of Catholic Mothers

Meetings take place on Tueday afternoons 1.00 p.m. - 2.30 p.m. at Holy Family Parish Church. If anyone would like to join us, you would be made very welcome. Contact Joan Ryan, President on 282 6378.

St Joseph's and Holy Family

Parent and Toddler Group

This popular Group meets each Monday morning from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. during term time, in the Holy Family Parish Centre. The Group has been in existence for many years and is organised by a team of parishioners who give their time on a voluntary basis.  If you feel you would like to become involved in the work of the Group, then further details can be obtained from Father Woolley on 973 1615 or Jane Simister on 969 9193, or call in on a Monday and see for yourself.

The usual CRB formalities will be applicable.

 

North West Thirtysomethings
