Social Events

May Coffee Mornings

Once again, during May, we will celebrate the month of Our Lady by weekly coffee mornings - this year in aid of the renovations work in the church. If you are interested in hosting one of the coffee mornings, please ring the parish office or speak to Father Woolley after Mass.


St. George's Day Celebration

2.00 p.m.-3.30 p.m., Friday, 26th April 2019

On Friday, 26th April, St. Joseph's School PTA will be holding an Afternoon Tea to celebrate St. George's Day in St. Joseph's Parish Centre from 2.00 p.m. until 3.30 p.m. Tea, coffee, strawberries and cream, cakes and scones and, weather permitting, some of the school children will be dancing around the Maypole in the school playground. All parishioners welcome.

Thelwall Pub Walk

Sunday, 28th April 2019

Thelwall Pub walk, Sunday, 28th April 2019. Approximately 3.5 miles, 1 boot. The first section of the walk is a path on the site of a demolished railway line, suitable for active children and push or wheelchairs. The walk ends where it begins at the Little Manor Pub. Meet in St. Joseph's car park at 1.00 p.m. for prompt 1.15 p.m. departure. On arrival we park at the Little Manor pub. Any queries, contact Peter on  07986 803827 or 0161 962 4851.


Catholic Women's League - CWL

Monday, 29th April at 7.00 p.m.

Next meeting Monday, 29th April at 7.00 p.m. in St. Joseph's Parish Centre. All visitors are invited to come and listen to the Speaker at 8.00 p.m. with tea and coffee served from 7.45 p.m.  Entrance charge £2. Marcella Phelan MBE, a member of Imelda Jones (RIP) and Pat Jones family, will speak about her journey of the work she has done for and with young needy people in London, leading to her investiture of the MBE at Buckingham Palace.


Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes

If you wish to travel by train which will involve an early start from Stockport/Manchester and travelling via London and Paris and arriving in Lourdes the same evening, please again get in touch with Fr. Peter. No assistance with luggage or wheelchairs with train travel is available.

Keep Fit Classes at St. Joseph's

Every Thursday in the Parish Centre

1. Metafit HiiT class - 30 mins high intensity interval training using a series of body - weight exercises, designed to keep your body burning calories long after your training session is complete. It's tough but it works! 9.15am - 9.45am. Cost £5.

2. Over 60's Keep Fit Aerobics, Strength, Core, Balance and Flexibility- for men and women of all ability levels. 10am - 11am. Cost £4.50 . Contact: Julia Millington 07718 336749.


Catholic Women's League

 The CWL promotes and supports religious and intellectual interests and social work; ensures the presentation of Catholic interests on public bodies; for the formation and collective expression of Catholic public opinion including support of work at an international level through the World Union of Catholic Women's Organisations. Meetings are held on the Third Monday of the month.


Ring and Ride

Ring and Ride provides a door-to-door accessible minibus service for people of all ages who find it difficult to use ordinry public transport. Some parishioners make use of this service to attend the 11.00 a.m. Mass on Sundays but, in order to secure a regular service, need a couple more to join with them. If you need assistance, phone 0161 200 6011.


Union of Catholic Mothers

Meetings take place on Tueday afternoons 1.00 p.m. - 2.30 p.m. at Holy Family Parish Church. If anyone would like to join us, you would be made very welcome. Contact Joan Ryan, President on 0161 917 2166.

St Joseph's and Holy Family

Parent and Toddler Group

This popular Group meets each Monday morning from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. during term time, in the Holy Family Parish Centre. The Group has been in existence for many years and is organised by a team of parishioners who give their time on a voluntary basis.  If you feel you would like to become involved in the work of the Group, then further details can be obtained from Father Woolley on 973 1615 or Jane Simister on 969 9193, or call in on a Monday and see for yourself.

The usual CRB formalities will be applicable.


North West Thirtysomethings

Are you in your 30's? Would you like to meet other Catholics your age? We are a group who share the same faith and interests. Recent events have included art galleries, meals, theatre, city tours.
